Syngenta to Launch Segovis® Flora: Advancing Downy Mildew Control for Ornamentals
Syngenta East Africa will be launching Segovis® Flora, an innovation developed to strengthen downy mildew control in ornamental crops, through a series of events across the country’s major flower-growing regions from late May to mid-June 2026.
Kenya’s floriculture industry is built on precision, consistency, and quality. Yet downy mildew remains one of the most disruptive diseases in ornamental production. When conditions favour infection, particularly periods of high humidity and cooler temperatures, disease can spread rapidly, reducing quality, and increase production costs and ultimately affecting marketable yield. For farms supplying premium export markets, the impact can extend beyond the crop to harvest schedules, customer confidence, and business continuity.
Innovation that supports performance and stewardship
Modern ornamental production requires solutions that deliver strong performance while supporting responsible crop protection. New innovations play a critical role in reinforcing Integrated Pest Management (IPM) and resistance management strategies—helping growers and advisors protect crop value while meeting evolving market and compliance expectations. Segovis® Flora is being introduced to support growers with an additional tool designed for today’s production realities, where productivity and sustainability must progress together.
Why Segovis® Flora—why now?
The launch window—end of May through mid-June—coincides with a period when many production areas can experience conditions conducive to downy mildew development. This is when proactive, well-structured programs matter most. Segovis® Flora arrives at a key moment to help growers strengthen prevention-focused strategies, protect ornamental quality, and maintain continuity of supply.
Launch events across Kenya’s key flower-growing regions
Syngenta will host Segovis® Flora launch events in:
Nairobi Metropolitan- primary economic, financial, and logistical hub of East Africa
Naivasha – the epicentre of flower growing in Kenya
Nakuru – the land of flamingoes
Nanyuki – with Mt. Kenya as its backdrop
Eldoret City – the home of champions
The events will bring together farm owners, growers, agronomists, flower grower consultants, channel partners, industry associations, research institutions, and IPM service providers, among others, to share insights, discuss downy mildew management best practices, and engage directly with Syngenta technical teams on how Segovis® Flora can be positioned within robust downy mildew IPM programs.
